Research

In order to engineer biological systems for the treatment of patients, it is essential to progress systematically from simpler models to increasingly complex cellular and living systems. This can be achieved by developing and advancing gene-, cell-, organoid- and next-generation ('X-based') therapies. To address this challenge, the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) at ETH Zurich and Roche pRED jointly run a collaborative research programme. The programme brings together research groups from fundamental, applied, and translational research, as well as medicine, to conduct highly ambitious joint R&D projects and to educate and train the next generation of leading scientists.

Open position: AAV capsid engineering with generative AI

The Biomolecular Design Lab at the ETH Zürich Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering and the Nucleic Acid Based Medicine Research at pRED are offering an interdisciplinary challenging project at highest scientific levels at two different locations in the City of Basel. The aim of this project is to develop and deploy state-of-the-art generative models in protein design for improving AAV manufacturing properties.
