Motivation for Collaboration

There have been extraordinary advances in human tissue engineering, molecular and cell biological technology development, and big data analytics. However, it is a major challenge to steer these new developments towards patient needs. The world needs talents who understand and work in collaborative projects of academia and industry to address existing and upcoming challenges in biomedical translation. This is why the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of ETH Zurich, with its unique expertise and strength in molecular and cellular systems engineering and biodata sciences, and Roche’s Institute of Human Biology (IHB) in Basel have joined efforts and cooperate on highly innovative and collaborative research. Students will pursue their doctoral research at both campuses following all principles of academic freedom and scientific conduct.
